Flying lanterns , or sky lanterns are, basically, the same sort of lantern with a source of heat in their core, originally a candle. If these lanterns are not attached securely, they will float away into the night sky when released. The very first lanterns of this variety were made by Kong Ming, an ancient Chinese military strategist. His lanterns weren't used for parties or festive events, but instead to send out illuminated messages into the night sky during times of war. Many hundreds of years afterwards the USA observed their national 4th of July celebrations by sending out many hundreds of these lanterns into the night time sky. Such lanterns have since been prohibited because of their capabilities of setting off fires, and interfering with aircraft.
The Zouma Deng lanterns, meaning roundabout, arrived a few centuries later than the common paper lanterns, and are processed to look like a tiny pavilion with its corners turned upwards. This form of lantern has a center wire base which moves small fastened papers around once the candle heat warms up the lantern inside, making it appear animated.
Chinese people still decorate their houses with brightly coloured paper lanterns, revealing to their neighbors any breaking news. The color red represents new starts, so is displayed to announce a newborn baby, or marriage. Blue is used when someone in the house is not well. A white lantern means a family is grieving a family member's dying. Lanterns also are also used to observe yearly festivals, one of the most significant which the Chinese celebrate: The Lantern Festival has been around since the year 230 B.C., and has been enjoyed each Chinese New Year excepting a decade between 1966 and 1976. Since then the Lantern Festival has returned, and is bigger now than it ever was.
Many people around the whole world decorate for celebrations, fiestas, parades, and gala celebrations with lanterns made from paper. Sky lanterns have been banned in several nations because of the danger they present. But nearly all paper lanterns used outside for decorations today, can be lit up just with little batteries powering them. A string of tiny festive lights is a great place to fix some paper lanterns, for a party outdoors. What is very ancient is still very modern, when decorating using Chinese paper lanterns.
