No doubt that the real meaning of the Civil War is completely different from the one we are used to. Civil War is called the Second American Revolution by some great historians. The term "Second American Revolution" was first used by Charles and Mary Beard about seventy years ago when describing the American Civil War. Only after everything was settled about the reunion and reconciliation, after the construction of monuments were completed, after all the veterans were satisfied, when most of the emotions were dull the Civil War could have been viewed from another prospective, the logical prospective that could easily point out "that armed conflict had been only one phase of the cataclysm, a transitory phase; that at bottom the so-called Civil War, or the War between the States ... was a social war, ending in the unquestioned establishment of a new power in the government, making vast changes in the arrangement of classes, in the accumulation and distribution of wealth, in the course of industrial development, and in the Constitution inherited from the Fathers."
Over the years the term "Second American Revolution" has been viewed differently by different parties. The historians of the Civil War Era always had difficulties with accepting this term. In any case, Civil War greatly changed the sense of balance of political power between North and South and significantly speeded up the appearance of industrial capitalism in the post-war period. Most historians see the abolishing of slavery in the South as the revolutionary result of the war. Another point of view is from people that lived through the war, they saw their struggle as revolutionary. People that lived in the South called their revolt a revolution against the tyranny regime of the North. Northerners, on the contrary, viewed their conflict as a struggle to keep the union, which was formed as the result of revolution against England, together. However, both sides viewed that war as the continuation of their fight for freedom that started in 1776.
The prominent historians Beards were very precise as to what they called a "revolution." In 1940 Louis Hacker briefly summed up what later became recognized as the Hacker-Beard Thesis: "The American Civil War turned out to be a revolution indeed. But its striking achievement was the triumph of industrial capitalism. The industrial capitalist, through their political spokesmen, the Republicans, had succeeded in capturing the state and using it as an instrument to strengthen their economic position. It was no accident, therefore, that while the war was waged on the field and through Negro emancipation, in Congress' halls the victory was made secure by the passage of tariff, banking, public-land, railroad, and contract labor legislation."
Some famous historians and James McPherson occasionally talk of Abraham Lincoln's "Second American Revolution" (the title of one of McPherson's books). They are absolutely correct to describe Lincoln as a revolutionary, however, the explanations they present to support this point of view are not fully complete. It is true that Lincoln led a revolution, but it was an anti-American revolution against nearly all the founding values of the country. It was a revolution against: free-market capitalism (Lincoln was a committed mercantilist); the principles of the Declaration of Independence; the Constitution; the system of states' rights and federalism that was created by the founders; and the prohibitions against waging war on civilians embodied in the international law of the time as well as the canons of Western Christian civilization. Lincoln through all of his life never believed in equality of all races. He always viewed whites as the superior race. Maybe he wanted all races to be equal but not in the U.S. Lincoln is thought to save the union, however, it was only geographically, he destroyed it philosophically, and the union was not voluntary anymore. Lincoln eviscerated constitutional liberties in the North, which permanently weakened the constitutional protections of liberty for all Americans.
Despite all of the arguing of prominent historians, the fact continues to be revealed as the history moves up but at the same time it sort of steps back away in history. I think, it is an individual right for everyone to view the Civil War as the Second American Revolution or not. Each generation will reason and view this event differently, according to background and political views.

Recent fairs have taken place in Guangzhou's enormous China Import and Export Fair Complex, however, and, with 1,125,000 sq.m. of exhibition space now available - and fully occupied - the fair is now a very different exhibition from that which debuted in 1957.
Like previous Canton fairs, the 2010 fair will be organised by the China Foreign Trade Centre and co-hosted by the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Commerce and the Guangdong Provincial Government. The fair has shown steady growth in both volume and turnover over the years and thus deserves its appellation of China's No.1 Trade Fair. The next fair is due to take place in Spring 2010 and will be the 107th Canton Fair. It will be attended by 48 trading delegations made up of the cream of Chinese industry as well as foreign trade companies, private enterprises and research institutes.
The Canton Fair is held every year in Spring and Autumn sessions of three phases each with the first session taking place in April/May and the second in October/November. Each phase usually lasts five days and showcases different product types. It is not for nothing that the fair is known as China's largest and, during the 206th fair, 188,170 overseas buyers spent 30,470 USD while inspecting products displayed in 55,927 standard booths set up by 21,934 national and 386 international exhibitors.
The different phases exhibit products that are representative of different sectors of consumer and industry manufacturing. The 209th fairs first phase showcased products like electronics and household electrical appliances, vehicles and spare parts, chemical products and lighting equipment. The first phase was also home to those booths belonging to the international exhibitors. The second phase included home decorations, gifts and consumer products while the third phase spotlighted medical products (medicines, medical devices and health products), food and native produce as well as clothing and office supplies (specifically cases, bags and recreation products).

Ballpoint Pen's History
Working as I do, for a company that provides promotional pens, I tend to take ballpoint pens for granted. It wasn't until the other day when I came upon a fountain pen that my Mother had used to write letters to my Father during World War II, that I became curious about how the ubiquitous ballpoint pen came into being.
In 1888, an American leather tanner named John Loud patented a roller-ball pen for marking leather hides. It was never produced nor was any of the other pens based upon 350 patents over the next 30 years. The ink was the problem –either it was too thin and leaked or it was too thick and it clogged.
In 1935, two Hungarian brothers, Laszlo and George Biro, invented an improved version of the ballpoint pen. At the time, Laszlo was an editor at a small newspaper. He was very frustrated by the amount of time that he wasted filling his fountain pens and by the fact that the tip of his pens frequently scratched or tore the newsprint paper. George was a chemist, and together, they created new pen designs and ink formulations to be used in them.
While vacationing at the seashore shortly thereafter, the Biro brothers met Augustine Justo, the President of Argentina. He urged them to open a factory in Argentina. When World War II erupted in Europe a few years later, Laszlo and George fled to Argentina, but first stopped in Paris where they obtained a patent for their pen.
By 1943, the Biros had patented their pen in Argentina and set up a manufacturing facility, but the Biro Pen, as it came to be known, was a failure. Like other ballpoint pens before it, the pen relied on gravity to feed ink to the roller ball. That required that the pen be held in an upright position to write and the ink flow was still unreliable. The brothers went back to the drawing board and came up with a new design for the ink cartridge that used capillary action rather than gravity to deliver ink to the textured roller ball. The newly-designed pen went on the market a year later, and although the new design solved the problems, the pen was not a big commercial success and the Biros ran out of money.
It was, however, very popular with American and British fighter pilots who liked the pens because they would write at high altitudes and did not need refilling like fountain pens. The British Government licensed the pen for the RAF and the United States Department of State sent samples of the pen to a number of American pen manufacturers so they could develop a similar pen. In an attempt to corner the market, the Eberhard Faber Company paid the Biro brothers $500,000 for the U.S. rights to manufacture their ballpoint pen. Eberhard Faber sold the patent rights to the pen to the Eversharp Company, allegedly for $1,000,000, which began an extensive campaign to introduce the pen to America.
In a surprising end-run, a fifty-four year old salesman from Chicago, Milton Reynolds, became the first American manufacturer to successfully market the ballpoint pen. Reynolds had visited Argentina, where he had seen the Biro's pen in stores and thought that the pen would sell in America. Reynolds ignored the Biro patents, many of which had either expired or had never been properly filed in the U.S. and set up a factory. In a bold marketing move, he made a deal with Gimbels to be the first store to sell the pen. On the first day that the pen went on sale, 5,000 customers showed up at Gimbels and purchased the entire 10,000 pens that the store had in stock at over $10.00 per pen!
While Reynolds made millions of pens in the months that followed, ballpoint pens fell out of favor with the public as they discovered many of the same problems with the pens still existed. Somebody needed to invent a pen that was smooth writing, dried quickly, didn't skip or fade and, most important of all, didn't leak.
Two men, Patrick J. Frawley, Jr. and Fran Seech solved the problem. Seech was an unemployed chemist who lost his job when the pen company he worked for went out of business. Working in his own home laboratory, he finally developed the successful ballpoint pen ink. Frawley, was so impressed with Seech's ink, he purchased the formula and started the Frawley Pen Company in 1949. Frawley's pen not only had smear-proof ink, it also had a retractable point. An imaginative marketing campaign ensued and soon Frawley's pen, which he named Paper-Mate, took off. Other brands, such as Parker soon followed suit.
The other person to help revive the ballpoint pen was a French maker of penholders and cases, Marcel Bich. Not only was he appalled by the poor quality, but also by the high cost. He did, however, recognize that the ballpoint pen was a true innovation and resolved to create a low-priced, top-quality pen. Bich went to the Biro brothers and struck a deal to pay them a royalty on their patent and then spent two years studying every detail of every ballpoint pen on the market.
Finally, in 1952, Bich was ready to unveil his new pen. It was an inexpensive clear-barreled, smooth-writing, non-leaking pen called the Ballpoint Bic. The public accepted it with open arms. By the late 1950's, BIC had captured 70% of the European market.
Today, BIC dominates the market, with other manufacturers like Parker, Sheaffer and Waterman capturing the smaller market for upscale fountain pens and ballpoint pens. The modern version of Laszlo and George Biro's pen – the BIC Crystal – sells more than 14,000,000 pieces daily. Biro is still the generic name for the ballpoint pen in most of the world. Bread baking involves so many things that first time bakers are often discouraged after a few failed attempts to turn out professional looking and tasting loaves.
Little do they realize that if they only possessed the professional Baker's secrets bread baking would be so easy that the bread would practically make itself!
For instance: How many amateur bakers know the secret to keeping bread from sticking to the pan every time?
None! So when they try their hand at bread baking for the first time their bread sticks to the bread pan, and ends up a crumbled mess if they try to force it out.
Then they cry and give up thinking that the problem lies with them.
The shocking truth is that it doesn't!
The problem lies with their lack of knowledge of THE baker's bread
baking secret.

My father happened to learn this bread baking secret in his younger baking days and has passed it on to his children ever since.
Okay, okay, I know you're probably screaming at me by now ''Beth, get on with it! Tell us the bread baking secret already!''
So here it is; You will need only one tool besides for the oil and bread pan you already have, and that is quite simply CORNMEAL (you shouldn't need more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup for two loaves of bread).
''Cornmeal?'' you ask doubtfully. ''YES, cornmeal!''
No, you do not add the cornmeal to the bread ingredients! That is not the bread baking secret.
What you do is you oil your pan as usual, and you lightly sprinkle cornmeal on all of the sides and bottom of the bread pan.
Now you can safely place your bread dough into the pans without fear of it sticking to them.
While your bread is baking instead of sticking to the pan, your bread will stick to the cornmeal and slide easily out of the pan when done baking.
You may need to use a butter knife and slide it in between the pan and the bread before turning the pan over and allowing your bread to pop out.
A lot of the time this will be unnecessary however and your bread will pop out just by your turning the bread pan upside down.
You will probably also want to use the butter knife to scrape the excess cornmeal off the bottom and sides of the bread as you may not care for the taste of cornmeal.
This bread baking secret will work whether you're baking a batter bread or a rising bread (also called yeast bread). I personally use it for both.
Here is another treasured bread baking secret, this one only for batter breads:
On the last ten minutes of its baking time cover the bread pan containing the batter bread with another bread pan (a steel bread pan works best), and leave it on until the bread is finished baking.
This will keep the batter bread from burning or becoming too hard on top. You may vary the time you leave the steel bread pan on according to how your batter bread usually looks when it is finished.
If it is a very dark brown on top and difficult to slice because the top is so hard, then 20 minutes will work best. But if it is just a little too hard on top and a little too brown the 10 minutes should suffice.
Do not cover the bread at all if it usually comes out golden and soft on top after the baking is completed.
You may also glaze a batter bread on top with a tablespoon of melted butter mixed with a tablespoon of honey, and sprinkle some flaked coconut or sliced nuts on top of that.
To glaze you start by taking the bread out of the oven five minutes before the required baking time is finished, then spread the butter/honey mixture on top of the bread, sprinkle on your coconut or chopped nuts and bake for the remaining 5 minutes.

If your bread loaves over rise (say because you were busy and forgot about them), then you can use a pair of scissors to cut off the excess sides, being careful not to cut any dough from off of the top.
You may then use this excess dough to make rolls. You simply oil a pizza or cookie sheet and form the dough into several small balls.
Rise them for another half hour and then bake on 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Do yourself a favor and put these tried and tested bread baking secrets immediately to use in your kitchen, and your family will rave over the results.
